Havenly is an organization that is incredibly dear to my heart that I have been with since its founding in 2018.
Havenly is a nonprofit community-cafe run by and for refugee and migrant women in New Haven, CT. Havenly employs Connecticut refugee and migrant women in our community cafe while they complete the 6-month Havenly Fellowship designed to teach english, financial and digital literacy skills, workforce development, political advocacy and community engagement programing.
In Connecticut and beyond, safety nets for refugee and immigrant families are thinning. Food stamps are being cut. Health insurance is disappearing. Raids and fear are rising. 30 women have created a plan to fight this by joining Havenly’s 6- month fellowship program to gain leadership development skills, job training, and education.
But we need your help to make this happen in January.
Because you give, moms can start class, learn English, and land dignified jobs in the new year. After completing the fellowship, 85% of our fellows find job placements in various industries with an average minimum wage of $18.50 an hour.
